Ricardo Montalbán and William Shatner, Now This Is Acting
http://youtube.com/watch?v=4Mag0wJ6yTU

Why this scene did not earn Academy Award nominations for Shatner and Montalbán I will never know.

3. Little known factoid:
Most of the 11 million dollar budget went towards replacing chewed scenery.

7. "From Hell's heart, I stab at thee..."
"For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee."

I guess both Khan and Picard were big fans of Melville.

Kirk read the graphic novel looking for dirty pictures.

8. And, a few movies later
They quote Shakespeare - even though it sounds better in its original Klingon.

12. You can tell Richardo Montalban had a blast in that role.
Chewing up huge amounts of the scenery.

My favorite of the Star Trek films.

16. He was perfect
It called for an over-the-top performance.

Amd Spock should've died for real. A character like that deserves a memorable exit and they had it! But they had to cave to the fanboys and bring him back.

14. The best part about that movie is
how Khan and Kirk are never in the same room. Even the Reliant bridge is just a re-dress of the Enterprise bridge.

Doesn't this movie still have one of the best cost vs. profit ratios in movie history?

17. I'm sure that's the case
Everything which was wrong with The Motion Picture went right with The Wrath of Khan. Due to budget constraints, they didn't go overboard and rely on Special Effects as much; and were more selective and effective when they were used. This also meant a greater reliance on character and dialogue which made it the best Trek movie for me.

19. I love star trek: the motion picture!
I'm THAT guy, the one person who likes it. I just like the production design and main idea of the story. Everything that went wrong was a result of the rush to release it. It would have been a much better movie if there was better planning and more time to get it done.

20. I liked "The Motion Picture" when I tuned in in the middle of it last year
And that was the first time I had watched it since its initial release in the theaters. I'm getting pissy with age, but there is a soft, sentimental spot.
