"Paranoid"- Black Sabbath (Live In Paris, 1970)

This is one of the three riffs I learned the first time I picked my cheap-ass Kay electric guitar (smashed to pieces in a Super8 film my best friend and I made a few years later); the others I think were "My Generation" and "Sweet Jane". This live version from 1970 is better than the vinyl version, IMO:

I was in a band around 1978 that did "Paranoid" in a sort of heavy-metal-fucks-with-your-head set that included Lennon's "Cold Turkey" and three old Grand Funk tunes, "Inside Looking Out," "Into the Sun" and Heartbreaker."

3. I love that riff

Absolutely love it; the "Cortez The Killer" riff is the only other one I think I've ever played as much through the years on guitar. It's like an electric jolt, and Geezer never sounded funkier (for him, anyway) on bass...
