I feel like a superhero now. Sort of. Maybe I just see like one.

I can spot them from fifty yard away; it gives me a chance to ring my plague bell and shout "Unclean! Unclean!"
Actually monovision is the fusion of one contact for close-up (right eye) and one for distance (left eye). I don't know how it works but I do think I'm seeing more clearly.

distances. Does that make sense?
OK, if you're nearsighted and both eyes are corrected to 20/20, you might not be able to see anything that clearly under 15 feet away. But, most of the things you look at are under 15 feet away.
So, you leave one eye uncorrected, or undercorrected, and you can see distances well with one eye and close things well with the other. The brain works out which is the sharper image and sort of ignores the other.
You'll never see perfectly at all distances that way, perspective might go a bit whacky at times, and it won't work if you have astigmatism, but it's a neat trick. I used to take a contact out at times when it was a pain dealing with reading glasses.
