Does my dog sense I am pregnant?
He has been acting out so badly for these past few weeks. He is 6 years old and never chews or tears stuff up. He didn't even do that when he was a puppy! But every day for these past few weeks I come home to something shredded or eaten. Yesterday it was a whole roll of toilet paper and a tube of chapstick. Plus he took the pillows off of the couch and put them on the bed in the bedroom along with a shirt and a sock!!! I don't want to even talk about the female hormonal pills he ate. Now I have to doggie proof the house all over again! Bad dog!!

As for your dog, I think he does sense that you're pregnant and he thinks he has to help prepare by adding pillows to your bed, and also experiencing sympathetic Pica practice, when a pregnant woman craves unusual items not normally eaten. ;)

6. The simple answer is yes...
or at least, most likely, he either detects hormonal changes in you, or, and this is probably more likely, he knows you are "late", so to speak. I doubt he knows exactly what these changes mean, unless he has smelled it before, but any fundamental change like that probably disturbs him greatly, so he'll act out.

Oh, and congratulations! :)

10. Just try to reassure him as best as possible, and weather the "storm"...
of his behavior. If he has no context, all he knows is that something is "wrong" and that can be very disturbing. He probably thinks you are sick. He should return to normal after you give birth, just be happy to have a dog who cares about you that much, and dog proof your house. :)

12. I thought my dog proofing days were behind me. I have a 9, 6, and 4
year old dog. Even when you think you have dog proofed the house, they find something so random and tear it up! Here I go again!

9. When I was pregnant
My dog knew, she stayed by my side,or at my feet, slept near my belly and wouldn't let anyone near me! She went back to normal afterwards.

13. Haha! You so funny!
I only wish I had a good appetite right now! If he thinks it is bad now, bless his heart for when I start really chowing down!!
