I was going through some storage boxes of old personal junk today when I struck the motherlode- it turns out one of the boxes contained ALL MY MOTHER'S OLD FAMILY PHOTO ALBUMS.
I mean this stuff goes back to the thirties! Some of the albums are in horrid shape (looks like battery acid or something was leaked onto one corner of one- it's ruined pics all the way through the book) but there are many old pics I haven't seen in years, fading but quite retrievable. There are also albums of other family members- my brother and sisters, various aunts and uncles, and many I don't have ANY idea who they are.
Now I have to go through it all and rescue what I can, and scan and restore as much as possible. There are HUNDREDS of pics- it's gonna take WEEKS!
And then I have to make YOU suffer- you may as well prepare yourself to be inundated with pics of people you will never know.
Tough noogies. You're in for it now! I sure ain't goin' through all this just to keep it to myself...
...BTW, I also found some other interesting stuff, including a pristine (wrapped in plastic) Book 1 of Frank Miller's Elektra graphic novel series. I also found (in considerably worse shape) the first eight Sabre comics. (Sabre was THE FIRST independent graphic novel made. Ever.) Not worth a lot in real world trading terms, but still priceless to me.
