There are just some songs that cannot be played quietly. What songs do you love to crank up the volume when you hear them?

4. I've got a ton of them. But my biggest guilty pleasure "crank to 11" song:
"Breaking the Law" by Judas Priest. So, so cheesy. But if it comes on the radio in the car, the windows are going down and the volume is going up. :headbang:

12. "Question" is a great song
"Forever Autumn" has amazing synth in it... and some fabulous harmonies, and the lyrics are just beautiful:

The summer sun is fading as the year grows old
And darker days are drawing near
The winter winds will be much colder
Now you're not here

I watch the birds fly south across the autumn sky
And one by one they disappear
I wish that I was flying with them
Now you're not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

Through autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way
You always loved this time of year
Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away

A gentle rain falls softly on my weary eyes
As if to hide a lonely tear
My life will be forever autumn
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here
'Cause you're not here

11. A good boot of "Song Remains the Same"...
...And by "good" I mean a decently balanced recording (usually, but not always, a soundboard) where Jonesy's bass is prominent and Plant is in decent voice. Wow, does Jones cook on that one!

I know I'm sounding like a hopelessly old-skool rocker (which I am), but I also admire "Won't Get Fooled Again" at 11.

Lately, I have been blasting Genesis' "Supper's Ready" (live and studio versions), which annoys the wife, as it's a verrryyy loonnnggg song.

Page felt he finally had a chance to fix some of the major problems witih the original CD release of TSRTS and it was a definate improvement.

I'm listening to 'Question' by Moody Blues right now but I think I'm gonna have to switch to 'Won't Get Fooled Again' for my next song!

18. Got the reissue! Very nice, but I have complaints...
...Some unnecessary and surprising editing of songs, particularly on Whole Lotta Love. That said, a welcome upgrade of the sound, and the extra songs. I'm looking forward to the Blu-Ray DVD, although I now have to buy a Blu-Ray player. What the hell, I might as well join the 21st century.

15. my favorite volume 11 yes - "Starship Troopers"
Yes was one of the first concerts I ever saw. When they did the finale with Starship Trooper all these lights came down with the smoke machines and they just jammed on that song for like 20-30 minutes.

It was that defining moment that I realized I was a classic rock chick for life.

20. "Close To the Edge" loud is magnificent...
...whether it's my original vinyl or the remastered CD. The title track is one I can (and have) blasted for almost 30 years now. Love it when Wakeman's organ shakes the room.

"I get up, I get down." Admittedly, Anderson's lyrics can be opaque. Then again, I have often gotten up. And most certainly, I have gotten down.

You can't turn the volume up to 11. It only goes up to 10.

I find that 90% of Rush songs are meant to be played loud.

"Baby, I'm a want you/
Baby, I'm a need you.

Wonderbread is healthy/
My package is stealthy.

Here's the song I should have sung:
You're too young/
I'm too well hung.

(Chorus)

Ohhh! Darlin, you look so fine./
Who's to say/
Where we draw the line?

My hands on your neck now, but/
I know your air supply is fine!

Okay! I'll let go/
Would ya like some more wine?"

I never liked that band, and I don't trust people who do.

36. 2112 and a small list from Yessongs work best at volume 11 for me.
...I suspect that my younger neighbors would take issue, so I don't do that.

Call me weird but another thing which I have been busted listening to at Volume 11: The No Doubt LIVE Special which I recorded a few years back. Gwen is so drop dead gorgeous and I love her voice...the fact that No Doubt was comprised of some great musicians as well didn't hurt either. My neighbor did indeed bust me listening to this at a level my speakers could hardly tolerate...she called me up and asked me nicely if I had gone insane. I turned it down and she went back to sleep.
