Do you Xerox? Copy? Something else? I've never heard anyone under 30, at least, say "I'll be right back--I've got to make a Xerox of this." I think that's part of the flack for Hillary's line there tonight, particularly on a college campus--no one "Xeroxes" anything anymore.

For the record, I make copies.

15. Hee when I was a teacher
The ONE year I spent teaching high school, I wasn't very smart about a lot of things, but one of the things I knew enough to do was to pause a moment after handing out freshly made dittos--you know, the ones fresh out of the teacher's lounge, so damp they curled lengthwise--in order to give the kids time to INHALE DEEPLY. Once they all had purple on the tips of their noses, I began the lesson.

3. I swear to god I worked with a guy in the 80s who called it "the pitcher-takin' machine"
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 10:38 PM by Richardo
It's not like he was a very old guy, either. Besides, I've never heard anyone else of any age call it that. :dunce:

I, for the record, call it a copy, done on a copier.

I stopped using "cc:" or "xc:" at the end of my letters a long time ago. I just use a "c:" if I send a copy of the letter to another.

19. I'm in my 40s, and I photocopy or copy. But then, I also make gelatin, use facial tissues,
and play with flying discs, unless I'm actually making Jell-O, using Kleenex, or am throwing a Frisbee.

But I do use Band-Aids, no matter what brand the little sticky things with the cotton gauze used on wounds is.

23. Dry printing is called "xerography."
So, I made xerox duplicates. "Duplicates", mechanically produced to be identical to originals, are admissible in court. "Copies" are not. The historic meaning of "copy" is to rewrite an original by hand.
