Poll question: Is anyone else NOT excited about the Oscars this year?
I have no enthusiam for them this year. The line up of "best" seem to just suck this year. All the air seems to have been taken out of the buzz.

2. The only good thing about the Oscars
is the post game snarkage about clothes, behavior and all things tacky.

3. I have not been to a movie since 1989. Guess my interest level.
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 08:03 PM by triguy46
Actually its rather high. For not having been to movies I love to read reviews of cinema and critical essays of the art. For not having been in a theater in nearly 20 years, there's a ton of good and some obscure movies that I'm able to discuss intelligently. I guess that is the same as a priest giving advice on marriage.

8. When I was a kid, it was a cool thing to watch... like the Wizard of Oz or Miss America pagents
It's a bit dreary now, for some reason. I'm sure it's just me getting old. But what's "in" or "cool" always changes.

10. I watch 'em every year, but for some reason this year ain't cutting it for me
probably b/c I haven't had a chance to see all the big contenders

Old Country for Old Men...or whatever it is
Atonement
There Will Be Blood
Sweeney Todd.

I'm a bit out of it this year, in other words. :(

12. The only movie I saw last year was "Sicko". Is it nominated?
I don't even know who most of those actors are anymore.

Sometimes I watch the fashions on the red carpet.... that's about it, though.

14. I am never excited about the Oscars.
I don't see most of the films until they turn up a year or two later on cable.

Once upon a time, I was in the film business......

15. I couldn't care less....
It just doesn't interest me. It's a contrived, "OMG", fake moment, imho.

I'll be doing something else that night, I'm sure.

18. The lineup for best picture this year is the best I've seen in a while.
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 01:58 AM by primate1
I usually think their best picture nominees suck, haha.

That said: Fuck the Oscars.

22. True, but big for the local economy (the little people)
From caterers to dry cleaners to florists it is the Super Bowl.

24. Isn't The Siegelman Special Going To Be Playing At The Same
time? No competition for me, if so. I love Jon but not enough to watch the awards. I do appreciate the fact that it lets me know which movies I should probably see though.
