3. had 3 of these, now I'm real mellow

Savannah Fest Bier

This German-style Festival bier has a rich orange hue. Its medium body is complemented by a Munich malt toastiness and premium German hops which are a blend of Hallertau, Spalt, Hersbruck and Saaz, yielding a spicy, "noble hop" aroma.

56. That wouldn't work for me...
... when I get intoxicated, I start speaking German with some Russian and Yiddish/Hebrew thrown in.

Whenever I notice I'm confusing whomever I am talking to, or that I am thinking in NOT English, I call it a night. I learned to do that in University, when my friends would encourage me to argue with people when I was sloshed (they spoke German too) and I would get frustrated because the people weren't listening to me/understanding me. Fun times.

21. It's not bad. Just not great.
And not particularly interesting. I like my drinks to be interesting. :P

Last beer I had that was really good was a chocolate stout, if I recall correctly.

I think for the most part I tend to favor beers that also have something else in there for flavor. Wheat ales with a fruit aftertaste are a pretty solid standard for me.

Probably why I started brewing my own alcoholic beverages. That way I can do whatever interesting things I want. :)

I thought I saw somewhere that you brew mead. I love mead. I have a 1/2 bottle of Bunratty Meade (imported from Ireland, of course) in my refrigerator.

30. Yep. Right now I've got three gallons in the cellar.
Two test batches (one if which is technically a 'cyser', part mead, part cider), and one gallon that I'm hoping will be the final version brewing. I had to put it next to the furnace to keep it warm enough, the cellar's a bit cold this time of year. :) But it's the perfect temperature for aging, so I left the other two away from the furnace.

I'm going for a seasonal thing right now, so the one brewing is my hearty winter mead. I used the thickest raw honey I could find, mixed with a few ounces of dark molasses for a bit of an extra kick. Then I added a few wintery spices like ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, some raisins (although those are more for nutrients than flavor), and I was going to add some orange peel but I couldn't find any dried. So if it's not perfect, I'll know what's missing. :)

The cyser I also spiced a whole lot to give it some kick. I wanted it to have a very strong cinnamon/apple pie kind of taste. Whereas the winter will have more of a hint of a rum/gingerbread kind of taste.

I was also planning on doing a small batch of what's called capsicumel. That's mead with hot pepper added. :) I think I'm gonna call it 'Loki's Helfire'.

For summer I'm planning on doing some kind of orange blossom honey mead, and I still haven't decided what to do for spring yet. I should though, since that's coming up soon.

Beer is the mind-killer. Beer is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my beer. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the beer has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

80. There's a great corner store here that's independently owned and is open 24/7 that sells it...
And they're a 5 minute walk from my house. It's great.

86. Lucky you.
If there was a store close to me like that, I'd be there all the time.

79. Jones Soda is some pretty good stuff
:) They come up with the most interesting flavors! On a whim, I bought a 4-pack of cocoa-flavored soda for my family around Christmastime, and darned if it didn't taste like the real stuff!

I also recently discovered Jones carbonated candy. :9 Orange & Cream = delicious! :D

72. Smirnoff Ice.
Yeah, "bitch beer," but it's relatively cheap, tastes decent, and is available within walking distance of campus. :hi:

91. I don't think something with less than 4% alcohol
should even be considered an alcoholic beverage. :P
