What are your vacation plans this year?
I'm taking two fishing trips to different Minnesota resorts. I don't talk about it much here, but I am obsessed with fishing when I am not at work. It is the perfect stress reliever for me.

I will also spend over a week in Costa Rica with my daughter. We are going to be eco-tourists.

Where are you all planning to go before 2008 is over?

2. A vacation??
What's that? Seriously, besides a couple long weekends for family visits (anniversaries and birthdays) and a long weekend in NYC, I haven't had a vacation in 10 years... :-(

This year, my parents are buying us all tickets for two days in Venice and 7 days on a cruise of the Greek Islands (my father's Greek). Lelapin is going but I can't. I don't have that much vacation time.

Maybe in another lifetime...

7. I went without a vacation for ten years
Edited on Sat Feb-23-08 11:20 PM by Generic Brad
Kind of. I took the time off but I never went anywhere. I was either doing home improvement projects of cooking.

Now that my wife and I have risen to levels of considerable responsibility in our respective careers we have found we really need a change of scenery. Am I glad she's more obsessed with fishing than I am.

16. We are
After the weather warms up we will go out on 7-10 fishing expeditions each week. I will be scarce on DU again once the ice clears from the lakes. When we are on vacation fishing is all we do.

When we were younger we constantly smoked together. Fishing has been a healthier alternative and a more constructive use of our time together.

I have a friend at work that wants me to go with him to Europe.
My sister is moving to South Bend, IN (from San Antonio) in the summer.

I think I'll just end up going to South Bend this summer, although I'd LOVE to go there in the winter and experience my first real winter weather (I've seen snow as a kid in the desert, but nothing much). Christmas shopping Chicago would be exciting.

32. We went to Gull Lake last year
Edited on Sun Feb-24-08 12:14 AM by Generic Brad
We stayed at Samara Point. It was the most relaxing week I have ever had. And my daughter caught a trophy worthy crappie about 100 yards away from Bar Harbor. I snagged an exceptionally large rock bass off of Sandy Point.

I will make it back up to Gull Lake and Mille Lac and environs again this year on weekends with friends. I'm not willing to say where we're going for our extended vacations this year until after we come back. I have been studying all winter and think I have identified two fishing hot spots that will be unusually productive this year. I'll let you know where I was after I have had a crack at the big ones.

59. ****sigh****
I LOVE Gull Lake. Lucky you!!

Grew up there in the late 50s through 1970...every summer...family had a place on the north shore near Dutchma's Bluff.
Used to fish throughout the interlachen of lakes there all the up to Nisswa Lake.

Used to go to Bar Harbor before the original building over the water burned down. I'd also get gas for my little 8-1/2 Johnson outboard on my wooden fishing boat, and nightcrawlers for bait, at Deauville Landing, which was right by Bar Harbor.
(and yummy! greasy cheeseurgers, and my necessary ration of Orange or Grape Crush, or Bubble-Up sodas)

Hope you have a blast this summer!! :hi:

33. I'll be taking more classes for my masters.
Teachers get summers off. Right. Maybe I'll be able to squeeze in a week before the classes start or after they're over and before school starts again. Whine whine whine, I know. It's my choice. But it's interesting and fun and will eventually move me over on the pay scale.

I may go see my sister in Vegas for spring break. Road trip with my dogs, woohoo!
