My meds want to knock me out. My migraine is keeping me awake.
They're fighting it out back and forth, and I'm stuck here in the middle hoping to get some sleep tonight.

Somebody come over here and hit me in the head with something very large and heavy. Please. x(

3. My neurologist wants to start me on daily demerol
to control these headaches. I'm getting them too often. The only reason she hasn't started me on it already is that it can apparently interfere with my other meds, so she needs to coordinate this with my pain management doc and my rheumie.

I really, truly hate when I have to take conflicting meds. :(

5. Me too.
Thing is, I am emotionally resigned to my own pain, but it breaks my heart when my friends and family are in pain.

6. My dear ThomCat!
No heavy objects, sweetie...

Hugs are good though, I think...

I hope things let up and give you over to your sleeping, the restorative sleep...

12. Hi Peggy!
it's now 1pm, I've had about 6 hours of sleep in fits and starts by staying home from work today.

My number of sick days is creeping upward. That's what's eventually going to force me out on disability. :(

Thank you for the hugs.

7. You know, my head does that without a headache or meds.
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 01:58 AM by Jamastiene
Part of my brain fights with the other parts of my brain and I'm stuck in the middle saying, "Pipe down up there. Let a girl get her rest." Of course, I have had to explain to my family numerous times that I am, in fact, not insane, but merely crazy.

13. I knwo what that's like.
:)

When I really get into something that I'm writing, or when I'm really worried about someone, I can't turn off my thoughts.

I'm fortunately thought, that most of my meds have the side effect of making me tired. They almost always force me to sleep at night unless my pain levels are particularly high.

14. Hi Heidi!
Thank you very much.

Perhaps because my favorite aunt used to be both a catholic nun and then a wiccan high priestess (:P), and she likes to light candles, it's one of those traditions I have always appreciated.

15. That would be awesome if you could.
:)

When a migraine gets really bad I often wish someone would come over and "squeeze my head until it pops like a zit." :P

Not pretty imagery, but at least it would make the pain stop.

It seems like there are a lot of us here who get migraines, and that number keeps increasing. We're letting companies pump too much shit into our environments, and Migraines are one of the ways our bodies are telling us it's wrong. :(

It's now the early afternoon and I'm finally feeling better and almost rested. The one good thing about migraines is that they eventually pass. :)

18. I'm so sorry ThomCat...
I hope you get to feeling better soon. I've had maybe five migraines in my life, and I can tell you I'd rather go through childbirth and labor with no pain meds before having another migraine.
 and sending you positive healing vibes.

19. Hi YouThere!
I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. :P

One of the rationalizations I use to get through my headaches is "This can't be as bad as Labor. Women squeeze out whole children. If they can survive that then this is nothing."

I'm going to keep convincing myself of that. :)

while I had the migraine I couldn't look at anything for very long. :(

But fortunately, it passes. Today's getting better as the day goes on. :)

21. I'm sorry Thom
I was struggling last night too. This virus is kicking my ass. I kept waking with coughing fits and I was so exhausted. Luckily I was able to make up for the lost sleep this morning after everyone left.

I hope you feel better today.

This may be a dumb question, but have you ever tried Excedrin Migraine? I have found it works quite well ( at least for me )

28. I only get a limited number of the prescription pills per month
so I use Excedrin Migraine on the smaller headaches. It works pretty well a lot of the time.

On the bad headaches Excedrin Migraine doesn't do a thing. :(

It has, and I have. Until the next time the weather triggers another one.

It sucks having a trigger that can't be controlled.
