Useful advice for all you fellow Loungers... (Actually, it's just me bitching.) |
|
Things I've learned recently.
1: When getting a coffee-maker, don't go for the $8 made in China model. Every cup I've brewed, no matter what the blend is, tastes like plastic. I'm thinking of just sticking the coffee grounds straight into a water bottle -- it couldn't possibly taste worse.
2: It is actually possible for a car's gas mileage to decrease. My Volvo is supposed to get 15 mpg in city driving, 25 on the highway. Because it's 20 years old and was poorly maintained for much of that time, it used to get 10/15. As of the past week, it's getting about 5 miles a gallon in the city.

1. Oh, I think this is a good idea for a thread. |
|
 Can I join in on the bitching, too? ;)
1. Do not EVER purchase and/or consume any candy, gum, or other foodstuff that is artificially "cherry-flavored." Seriously. That's just code for "tastes like cough syrup." :puke:
2. If you value your life/health/sanity/dignity/pants, stay the hell away from treadmills with centimeter-wide gaps between the slats that make up the belt. x(
3. Sleepy, perhaps-slightly-less-than-intelligent kitten + halogen desk lamp = singed fur. Even if the cat doesn't know/care/appear to be bothered by the singed fur, it still smells HORRIBLE. Bad idea.

2. Don't wear out your brake pads or rotors |
|
crash in to the car in front of you at every stop light instead.

1) Car dealerships can make keys for your car in about 5 minutes for about $5 just based on the VIN. 2) Too much dust in your computer can result in an astonishing array of problems, ranging from OS failures, power failures, video card failures and so on. Canned air is cheap. Use it once and a while to extend the life of your computer. 3) Beets are yummy and turnips are the devil 4) Try to be nice to people. You never know when you'll need to hit them up for a favor. :P
