My dad had a room-mate from Ed Gein's hometown at that time. Dad says that when Ed was sent away the Gein farm burned down, probably because the locals didn't want a tourist attraction to develop. Dad also said that the room-mate was not a fan of Ed Gein jokes.

15. There were many Gein jokes according to a doctor on the case. |
|
I read a book written by a psychiatrist who examined him. He mentioned that he noticed a proliferation of jokes which the locals called 'Geiners'. He felt they were nervous reactions to Gein's cannabalistic atrocities.
My favorite was one involving his phone number. All you old-timers may recall that in Gein's day the phone numbers had letters and numbers instead of just numbers like today. An example: Gein's hometown was Plainfield WI, so a phone number would be listed as PLA-1234.
So the joke is:
What was Ed Gein's phone number?
. . . .
Answer (read it slowly)
