all people in Colorado ride horses all the time
Edited on Thu Feb-28-08 11:46 AM by momophile
when I met a bunch of school kids in Austria years ago, this is what they told me when I told them I was from Colorado.

what stereotype would school kids (or adults, for that matter) of another country say of your state??

or of your home country?

4. That were all insular townies who spend all our time on the water and distrust outsiders.
Oh, wait. That's true.

...

Actually I have NO idea what the general conception of Mainers is. Usually all people can come up with is 'Oh, do you like Lobster?'.

Yes, I like lobster.

8. you live in trailers, drive 4x4s with gun racks, and make a lot of noise on your jet-skis
that's pretty much the interpretation of "Maine-ahs" down here.

5. Philly - we sit around eating cheesesteaks all day and watch our
local corrupt government...wait. That's pretty much right.

In all seriousness, lots of people think Philly is dirty and ugly. There are parts of it that are, just as in any city, but there are also beautiful and charming sections all over the city.

to eat them. With cheese and beer."

17. I live near Hannibal, Missouri
I think most of the international visitors are surprised to discover we locals do not wear straw hats or make rafts to float down the Mississippi.

22. We took our English friends' young son to Texas.
My wife's folks had a small farm/ranch south of Houston.
He was disappointed he didn't see cowboys and Indians roaming the prairie.

One day we saw a pickup pulling a horse trailer.
Michael said "What's that?"
Miz t. said "It's a horse trailer."
"They take the horse for a ride in a trailer?"
She couldn't resist.
"Yes, you see in Texas we are very kind to our horses. Once in a while they enjoy a ride in the fresh air and a change of scenery so we put them in a trailer and take them for a ride."
Poor kid was so gullible.
He's in his 40s and laughs about it now.
