My boss just told me he ate kangaroo last night
I didn't know that people eat kangaroo. I guess I shouldn't be so surprised.

2. Is this a sex thread?
I thought maybe "eating kangaroo" is a colloquialism for some bizarre practice or other.

If so, IBTL.

6. "In before the lock"
Graphic sex and/or body function threads are supposed to be locked if a mod spots them in the lounge.

But if they're sufficiently funny, people like me try to get a few zingers before the moderator cracks down.

8. oh...........
Well, I'd have been really creeped out if my boss said I hate kangaroo last night and for one second I'd thought maybe he was talking about sex. Okay, now that thought is in my head and I'm creeped out.

4. Back when I lived in Colorado, we had a restaurant called New South Wales...
that served kangaroo, ostrich and whatnot. I didn't think it was that bad, but it wouldn't be my first choice. It's more the kind of thing that you try just to say you've tried it.

23. I've heard that too. Kangaroos don't produce as much methane and aren't as
damaging to the environment as cattle.

13. Did he say it tasted like chicken?
Whenever somebody tells me they ate an unusual meat and that it tasted like chicken, I ask them, "Why didn't you just eat chicken"?

20. because chicken is hopped up on hormones and drugs and whatnot
and tastes very bland because chicken farms in America make them grow way too fast. If you had chicken that was raised naturally and slowly in another country, you would notice some very significant differences in taste and tenderness.

I'm skeptical about how natural some of the "organic free range" chicken actually is. Wild game tastes so much better than anything you can get from a grocery store.

22. You have good reason to be skeptical
The standards for calling a bird organic and free range are quite low. Try getting your meat from a farmers market. These small producers really do have free range chicken, who eat bugs and other things chickens normally eat, as well as good quality feed.

Kangaroos produce no methane, unlike cattle. And it tastes like pork. I had it prepared very well, with a pepper rub and a wildberry dipping sauce :9

29. Sounds... interesting
You find kangaroos in flat country or mulga country. In the old days, people used to sool their dogs on them and spear them. Nowadays, people shoot them with guns. The milk guts are pulled out and a wooden skewer is used to close up the carcase. Then it is tossed on top of the fire to singe the hair which is scraped off, and then it's (put in a hole and) covered up with hot earth and coals. The tail and both feet are cut off before cooking. These are put in together with the rest of the carcase.

The kangaroo is chopped up so that many people can eat it. The warm blood and fluids from the gluteus medius and the hollow of the thoracic cavity are drained of all fluids. People drink these fluids, which studies have shown are quite harmless. Kangaroos are cut in a special way; into the two thighs, the two hips, the two sides of ribs, the stomach, the head, the tail, the two feet, the back and lower back. This is the way the Arrernte people everywhere cut it up.
