Even in baseball, there's no getting away from the assbuckets |
|
Case in point: The Dodgers have gone back to KABC as their flagship radio station after several years with KFWB. Both are right-wing news/talk stations with the likes of O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh et al. The difference is, all the time the games were on KFWB, I never heard a single promo for any of those shows, while just moments ago, in the second inning of the first spring training game, KABC ran a promo for O'Reilly's show.
This could be a loooooooong season. x(

Have you heard anything (good/bad/indifferent) about MLB Gameday Audio?

But I hated being slaved to the computer to listen to games. I ended up stringing two 10-foot extension cables to put a speaker in other parts of the house or in a window facing outside, but it was still a pain in the ass, especially if I were doing something outside that took me where the speaker wasn't. Also, I obviously couldn't listen in my truck, so I went for XM Radio last year.
Besides the cost (like $15 per month, as opposed to Gameday Audio's $15 or so per season), the drawback to baseball on XM is you get the home club's announcers. While it can be fun to listen to other guys call a game, it can also suck when it's a ball club with crappy announcers. (OTOH, you get a helluva lot more than just baseball on XM.)
Baseball was more fun when the Dodgers were on 50,000-watt KDWN in Las Vegas. But even then, I could pick 'em up only at night.
They ran a promo for Hannity's show at the end of the second inning. :banghead:

3. I had a 3 month trial of XM awhile back |

It was nice to get such a variety of games, but the home announcers only did suck. I was thinking of MLB's package mostly to listen to ballgames at work. $15 for the season for a truckload of day games doesn't sound all that shabby to me.
When did you stop taping Hannity and Rush?

:P
One other thing I expected with XM was zero-delay, which would be a welcome relief from Gameday Audio's delay of 30 seconds or more, especially when I want to simulcast with a teevee game. (Double-especially during the playoffs, when Faux Sprots drives me out of my fucking mind.)
But, nooooooooooo! XM has a delay of several seconds, too. x(

My dream is a world where I can listen to the radio broadcasters call the game I'm watching on SAP.
It's a pipe dream, I know, but it's a good pipe dream.
