I almost hate the Braves more than I actually like any other team. I'll watch Braves games just so I can root against them, regardless of who's playing them.

Of course, that's probably because, as a fan of four NL teams, they're consistently fucking up my team in the playoffs, but hey, best not to get into that. :P

as it's the city of Houston, Harris County and pretty much Texas in its entirety. Exceptions might be Austin, El Paso, Anahuac and Pflugerville.

The Stros have messed up the Dodgers a couple times, but that was a long time ago.

64. Exactly.
Besides, 'hate' is a strong word. Allow me to rephrase. I feel an intense dislike for a few teams, whether it's because I don't care for their managers or because there's a particular player I don't like...but the game itself?

God, I love it. And when it's played well, even by teams that I don't like...it's simply indescribable.

No one is pitching out of the bullpen at this point. They all have this weird idea that they're gonna come into the game and blow away the coaches (not the other team...they wanna impress the coaches) and make the starting rotation. They're still in the 'audition' phase.

Give 'em time.

81. Meh
Half of those guys'll be in Vegas or Jacksonville by March 30, and that includes the kid Lindsey who got the game-winner.

Anyway, we walked one guy in nine innings and the first five pitchers gave up a total of one single. Meanwhile, Atlanta's got a kid named DeSalvo who apparently thinks the strike zone is between North and South Korea. Guess that's why his ERA went up like the fuckin' space shuttle in five appearances with the Jankees last year before his ass got sent down.

The Yankees, in their current state, have a bloated payroll and not a lot to show for it, especially with Torre having gone to L.A.

I like the Cubs, so naturally, I can't stand the White Sox. I was one of the few proud Cubbies fans on the South Side when I lived in Chicago.

94. Cubs...not their player - their FANS (lots of them anyway, not all)
It is one thing to be passionate about a team, it is quite another to constantly thrown things onto the field to try to hurt players or other fans, to deliberately bump into or shove people in the back halls or in food/beverage lines, to throw trash at the other team's fans/cars/children.

EVERY year I see this happen in Cincy..EVERY year without fail. Not all fans, but a large portion of them. My hubby and I always make at least one home stand game against the Cubs each year and it never fails to amaze me. Cincy is close enough that a lot of Cubs fans come in to town as well.

Yeah ,I expect to be flamed for that statement alright. But, I betcha I have a LOT of defenders.

And again, not all fans, but a large enough contingent that we simply shake our heads in puzzlement as to why.

It's the fans who are actually from Chicago/suburbia, not the outlying areas - the ones with the yuppie rich North Side frat boy attitude. I had a discussion with another DUer a while back about arrogant Cubs fans - this other DUer, being a Cubs fan from Iowa, was floored at the idea that a traditionally hapless, losing franchise could have arrogant fans. Of course, in his neck of the woods, Cubs fans probably ARE humble and have a good sense of humor about their team. That's what they're mostly like where I'm originally from, in central Illinois. But now I go to a college with a large population of suburban frat-rat douchebag Cubs fans, and they are absolutely insuffrable. It was nice to see the White Sox and Cardinals win the World Series in back-to-back years, because their nasty meltdowns were delicious to witness.

I'm just praying they lose again this year so I can remind them that it has officially been 100 years since they were champions.

113. Thanks for the logistics of it
I agree, what you describe as the nastiest is exactly what I see every year. I also see what I call the regular fan, who will boo as necessary (and should), and cheers and shouts alot...that is the fun part of the game to sit in a packed stadium and watch EVERYTHING...what sucks is when you have to watch OUT for fans, not WATCH them.

:)
