OMG! Why didn't you people tell me about this movie? Sooooooooooooooo good. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0445922/

And I want to marry the guy who played Jude. :P

And I've decided I've been away from DU for too long, since I can't type correctly anymore. :eyes::rofl:

3. Bought the DVD!
You know those movies that are going to be future classics? We buy them. Just the music alone! Eddie Izzard and Bono? Come on! Dana Fuchs is a goddess!

4. Is it good?
I wasn't sure I'd want to see it... I wouldn't want to see some of my favorite songs massacred... but if it's good then I look forward to seeing it. :)

5. My mom and I loved it.
As did my brother and SIL (which shocked my mom and me). The interpretations of the songs are so spot on the movie.. hell, they're just great on their own. Highly recommend it! :bounce:

15. It reminded me of "Moulin Rouge", in how the characters sang the words of the songs
as part of the dialog. Very cool.

11. it was a visual heaven
i was pissed it didn't get even nominated for best direction or cinematography.

as for the writing of it i will say this.. it definitely had some flaws. it ran too long, it could have left out some stuff, and could have added more. however, the flaws of the movie are also part of its charm imo.

all in all i thought it was a great movie.

16. I dunno, man.
I needed therapy after I watched Frampton and The Bee Gees murder the Beatles in that old St Pepper movie. I don't think I could go through that again.

24. i cried my eyes out during that part
i do wish that the boy had sung the whole thing though(although i get why he didn't)... not a big fan of the woman's voice.. she waaaaaaay over sung it.. the beauty of that song is the simplicity(as the boy sung it).

22. I just watched it too last night. I loved it also!!
My youngest daughter watched it with me last night, and had to re-watch it today already. The Beatles tunes are excellently done, the story is fine, the cinematography is really good. It was fun to watch it with my daughter and comment on all the history stuff. We actually looked up the picture of Kim Phuc, the running Vietnamese girl in that famous photo at Trang Bang. The speech by Paco at the first rally could have been done at any anti-war rally today, it was so much of the same rhetoric - spooky.

And Jude?! Wow! But really everyone was good.

This is definitely going to be one I purchase.

36. People either loved the movie or hated it
It's one of those polarizing films, kind of like Napoleon Dynamite.

I, for one, thought the cast was talented and possessed wonderful voices. I liked how the Beatles songs were implemented in the movie, even if they made the plot kind of thin and it ran kind of long. Visually, the film was amazing.

Overall  from me.

40. I turned it off halfway through -- and I almost never do that.
I'm a massive Beatles fan, and I loved the movie's cinematography, but I thought the movie used its musical numbers to cover up a plot flimsier than single-ply TP.
