Anybody seen the "Beowulf" movie? Thought it was pretty good |
|
I read the story many years ago, but don't recall Beowulf scoring with Grendel's mom/Angelina Jolie?
Liked the movie overall - thought the animation was pretty good overall, but the two main human women (the queen Wealthow, and the young mistress) didn't seem very expressive facially. Thought the Anthony Hopkins/Hrothgar character was well done, however.
I liked their take on Beowulf, overall, though.
"I am ripper, tearer, slasher I am the teeth in the darkness, the talons in the night I am strength, I am lust, I am power I am Beowulf!"
It's almost like "This is Sparta!"

2. Very good, very dark, but not for children. |
|
And yes, they totally ripped off the "this is Sparta" bellow.

3. you know the queen was played by Robin Wright Penn, who was "The PRincess Bride" |
|
I thought that was a pretty fun casting myself.

but, her animated character was not as "alive" as the others in the movie, if you get what I mean.

5. I saw it. I liked it. I liked it better than the person who went with me. |
|
They are not too much into fantasy/sci-fi stuff. It was a little to computer generated for my taste. I would like to see a more realistic take on it. Overall though, I was engrossed.

6. If you want a more realistic take, look for the 2006 "Beowulf and Grendel." |
|
It's an Icelandic production with some medium-name actors. Not perfect, but it was a better-than-average film.

7. I think I saw part of that one |
|
That starred Gerard "This is Sparta" Butler, if I'm not mistaken, as Beowulf.

9. Man Beo's battle cry reminded me alot of 300 as well |
|
"THIS...IS...SPARTA!" "I...AM...BEOWULF!"
I disliked both movies, even though they had cool action scenes I never gave a fuck about any of the characters and honestly rooted for their enemies half the time. Especially in 300, I mean Spartans yelling about freedom, UGH. I mean just what we need right a movie about how thousands of years ago white people were still defending freedom from the Persians!
Never mind the fact that the Spartans enslaved thousands of people through many wars, Lord knows they kept Freedom safe from those damn Middle Easterners!
