3. You can edit the playlist and download it to a new iPod. I run a few off of my iTunes: |

There's my iPhone, my daughter's iPod and my tiny iPod for running. The Nano plays movies but you certainly don't HAVE to do that: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&node=home/ipod/ipod_nanoThe iPod Touch is way cool and would seemingly meet you space needs: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=916FC36&node=home/shop_ipod/family/ipod_touchIt kind of depends on how you use it and your budget. I use two because I want something tiny for running, but I want my iPhone for the rest of life. PS: There's the Classic for just the biggest capacity. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=916FC35&node=home/shop_ipod/family/ipod_classicAgain, depends on what you'll use it for and how.

6. Well, I'd go for a bigger capcity than your current 6gb if you might |
|
want to do books too.
After that it's just size that works best for you when listening, walking etc.
I'll bet the nano would do you right.
And they're so CUTE. :-)

the songs by either deleting them from your iTunes or simply unchecking them when you re-load.
Yes, you can load the contents of your iTunes onto a new iPod. And yes, you can download books on tape (as well as TV shows, movies, podcasts...but of course, you don't have to).
Do you want something similar in size, or do you want more GB's? If you're seriously considering audiobooks, how many are you thinking? Those take up a significant amount of space, so you might want to go bigger.
As for what to buy now...
The Nano comes in 4GB for $149 and 8GB for $199.
The iPod Classic comes in 80GB for $249 and 160GB for $349.
For your purposes, I would say that the iPod shuffle isn't enough and the iPod touch is too much.
So basically, your decision would be between the 8GB Nano and the 80GB iPod Classic. I gotta say, aside from the cute design and great color choices, I don't really understand the point of the Nano. Why pay $199 for 8GB when you could pay $50 more for 10x the space? Also, if you're really serious about the books, 8GB probably isn't enough space.
Good luck!

7. Also: you don't have to check and uncheck if you decide to add songs manually, |
|
or to just synch one or more playlists. That's what I do. I never want AlL my iTunes library on my iPod.

10. Years of having kid's song on my itunes ensured i'd never do the full synch. |
|
I also don't think I have the room, with about 30gb on my itunes.
But I really like doing the manual load. Organizing always makes me happy.

8. My hubby got me an Ipod touch for my birthday. |
|
It is very cool! But, if it is more than you need, my daughter has a Nano that works quite well. You do not need a lot of space for the number of songs that you currently keep on your Ipod.
