8. You can get unlimited texts with TMobile for 14.99 a month.
I have TMobile, and LOVE them. Between the five faves and the unlimited texts, my boyfriend and I are saving HUGH amounts of money on phone bills. Their customer service people are incredibly nice, too. When I realized we were going insane with text messages, I called and they put us on the 14.99 plan retroactively to the beginning of the billing period. VERY nice.

14. We got 300 texts for like 3 bucks on Tmobile...
Now we have unlimited for 20. Not sure how the pricing is on single plans. We have a family plan. But they have different plans for texts.

Just switched to unlimited on my plan in January.

17. I saw that after I posted.
I don't mind paying the extra for the unlimited. We send a lot of text messages.

18. Oh, me either. We were about to get hammered with a huge bill for texts.
I'm still feeling all :loveya: about their customer service for switching us retroactively to the unlimited plan. :7

I want to move to AT&T to get an iPhone in the future, but the last thing I want is to get AT&fuckingT.

21. We've had them since they were Voicestream...
And that was like ten years ago. We love them, have never had a problem with them. And they are an international cell phone company. We figure if we ever travel over seas like we want to, it will be easy to get international minutes.

Cingular/AT&T charges for "excess" roaming, do others? I don't think any of them have their own towers in that town.

7. AT&T charges for roaming?
Really? I've never noticed that. I had Verizon for 2 years, but switched this summer to AT&T. Granted, I live in Los Angeles, so roaming isn't really an issue, but I do use my phone when I go home to Nebraska.

In fact, this past Christmas, I used the phone in rural Iowa...didn't notice any roaming charges.

From their coverage map

"PARTNER: The areas shown as an orange stripped pattern represent the coverage of unaffiliated carriers and should have sufficient signal strength for on-street or in-the-open coverage, but may not have it for in-vehicle coverage or in-building coverage. Excessive use of Partner coverage may subject your service to early termination, in accordance with your service terms. Data services may not be available."

The place where my brother goes to college (Truman State northeastern/north-central Missouri) is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. What part of Nebraska are you from?

12. Interesting.
I'm from a tiny town located between Lincoln and Omaha. I will say that AT&T's reception out in the bumblesticks did seem a bit lacking.

I kept having to go to the tops of hills to get reception when attempting to place calls about an hour outside of Council Bluffs. Not exactly handy, but I don't really go home that often, so AT&T is fine by me (plus, I'm rather addicted to my iPhone and don't have a choice of carrier). :P

16. My parents use Alltel
as did I when I lived in NE. Not sure if that's available in Missouri, but if it is, I'd recommend it. Fairly cheap, good coverage, etc.

10. That's not a need. It's a choice and a waste of money.
:sarcasm:

T-Mobile. Coverage is about as good, you get more hours for the money, and they don't lock down phones like how Verizon does. The latter is why I switched. Freedom of uniqueness for the ringtones. Even explaining to the dipshit when canceling service; she didn ot understand about the phones being locked down (the parrot believed everything I'd need would be in vCast... um, no... verizon locking down multimedia, ringtone, background, et al features was a problem. So much for the peace symbol they stole. )

11. T-Mobile is WAYYYYYY cheaper if you use the majority of your minutes on a few numbers
I generally use like 95% of my minutes usually on 5 numbers, so the fave 5 plan has given me the ability to yak on the phone whenever I want to really. I pay 39.99 a month for the fave 5 plan w/ 300 minutes, but to get the same minutes I use on another service I'd likely have to pay double.

The only problem is that in some areas the service for T-Mobile is not as good as Verizon, but I could care less since I'm saving so much money.

That way, when we call each other, it's free.

23. I'm on T-Mobile's prepaid plan, because I'm basically not a phone talker
Verizon's prepaid plan requires you to pay a minimum per month, while T-Mobile lets you buy time in increments as low as $10 (which lasts me a month) with long expiration dates.

I don't send text messages, and the only ones I receive are the ones from T-Mobile telling me that I'm almost out of minutes.

Since I use my cell phone just for emergencies and for calls forwarded from my home phone, it's perfect.

If you spend a lot of time on the phone, you're better with a comprehensive monthly plan.

25. I just looked at Verizon's prices - MAN have they gone up
I am seriously pissed off -- I wanted to replace my phone, but I guess I'll just hang on to the one I've got, as it's about $50/month cheaper than if I got the same goddamn plan today.

If you don't text a lot, T-Mobile might be worth looking at. I would, but they don't cover my area. x(
