Everyday miracles
If this sounds a little rambly, it's because I'm in a lot of major OUCH right now, so bear with me.

ThinkBlue1966 and I actually had a little bit of money in the bank at the moment due to our income tax refund being deposited last week. We didn't have a lot left after paying more bills, but we had about $350 that wasn't earmarked for anything in particular--just hanging onto it to pay bills in the future, you know?

Anyway, a friend called me tonight to tell me that the power company was going to shut off her electricity tomorrow morning. She has two little boys, both under the age of 5, and works her ass off as a grocery store clerk making $6 an hour--but she just didn't have it. So we paid the $327 bill with our debit card. God knows there have been times that people have done things like this for us. People right here in the Lounge, actually.

Within 30 seconds of paying that bill for her online, the phone rang again. It was the doctor's office telling me that they'll be able to work me in on Monday morning--which is HUGE because I'm suffering due to a nasty kidney stone (which isn't blocking anything, so emergency can't do much), and completely out of pain medicine. Until this evening they swore that the earliest they could get me in was March 31st.

I just happened to get a doctor's appointment that I desperately needed, out of the blue. We just happened to have almost exactly the amount of "extra" money that someone else desperately needed. Someone else just happened to contact me right before Christmas when we were completely broke, offering to buy presents for my kid so he didn't go without. I don't know if I'll ever believe in "God". But I think that moments like this are probably the best evidence in God's favor.

With all of the negative crap that we all deal with every day, and all of the despair and pain that exists around us, moments like this are the ones that always keep me grounded and help me to remember that underneath the rat race...we're all in this together. We really are.

Love you all. :grouphug:

9. That's sweet of you to say, but
I don't think I did anything different than what anyone else with a heart would have done under those circumstances. I guess I'm just grateful for the chance to see how things like this move in circles.

It gives me more hope than just about anything else, you know?
