Please help me get the songs from "Oliver!" out of my head!!!
We finally finished the run of "Oliver!" at the middle school where I teach music. Now I just have to get the songs out of my head. They're keeping me awake at night, and erasing marks from the books before I return them doesn't help matters.

6. Just a small town girl, livin in a lonely world...
...She took the midnight train goin anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit
He took the midnight train goin anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

(chorus)

Dont stop believin
Hold on to the feelin
Streetlight people

18. easy! ----> Here's the story, Of a lovely lady, Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold,
Like their mother,
The youngest one in curls.

Here's the story,
Of a man named Brady,
Who was busy with three boys of his own.
They were four men,
Living all together, but they were all alone-.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,
and they knew they was much more than a hunch.
That this group,
Must somehow form a family.
That's the way we all became the Brady Bunch,
The Brady Bunch- the Brady Bunch
That's the way- we became the Brady Bunch.

25. I was in that play in middle school!...
...a million years ago. The director (a teacher) promised me the role of Bill Sykes if I tried out for it. I did, and I got shafted-- ended up a mere "workhouse boy." To this day, more than 30 years later, I can still recite you chapter 'n' verse, the lyrics to "Food, Glorious Food." Sometimes, at the oddest of moments, I find meself singin' 'em out loud for no other reason that SHEER FUCKING MADNESS! So, teach, one suspects you'll get over this in time, as any adult would. As to your charges? Consider the fact that they are now officially scarred for life.

"Food, glorious food!
Hot sausage and mustard!
While we're in the mood --
Cold jelly and custard!
Pease pudding and saveloys!
What next is the question?
Rich gentlemen have it, boys --
In-di-gestion!"
