Please help me I am having a major computer crisis |
|
I am taking a college level English class. this morning I started the paper that is due Friday. Saved it with no problem. Finished it just a few minutes ago. Got an error message that said I wasn't authorized to complete the project. this happened several times. I copied and pasted it into an email to myself. Shut my computer down and rebooted. Opened my email copied the essay back into Word Perfect. Fixed the format problems. Resaved paper under new file name. Closed Corel and reopened it. There is nothing in it. Except, the properties selection under the file menu says it has the right number of sentences the right number of paragraphs but 57 pages instead of just the two that I keyed. Does anyone have any advice for me? Is my computer broken?

1. Probably a Corel problem rather than the computer. |

Unless you have a lot of other symptoms.
Try emailing it to yourself and use someone's computer with Word or whatever, and finishing it there.

Make the file read-only. Open it with open office then copy it someplace else

http://download.openoffice.org/other.html#en-USI use Koffice in Linux so that's about all the help I can give. My Windows are strictly 3d gaming.

I did download open office. It saved the fixed version with no problem except that it warned me that there was something in the paper that wasn't quite compatible with word. I still don't know what it was exactly (I think it had something to do with footnotes and headers--both a requirement for the paper). The funny thing is it also opened the original document that caused all my anxiety that was created in Corel. Open office is much closer to MSWord, far better than WordPerfect in MHO and I am going to enjoy doing the rest of the required essays in it. Thanks once again. DU to the rescue.

I'm sorry. Just had to give the standard useless, asinine response whenever anyone on this forum posts about a computer problem.
Glad you got your problem solved. :hi:
I didn't even know Word Perfect was still around.
