Poll question: Should I, or should I not go to my 20 year HS Reunion? |
|
It's coming up soon, and I'm slightly interested in going.
Having said that, I only attended the school for 1 year, and did not make a whole lot of friends there. And it was my Freshman year. After Santa Teresa (the HS) I ended up going away to a boarding school, and then a "continuation school," whereby I dropped out after my Junior Year, went to community college and then got my Bachelors and Masters.
But I wonder what has become of my suburban class...honestly though, a 10 minute report would do

1. If your 20th is anything like mine was... |
|
...I'd run like hell.
Remember all the the cliques from high school? They're all still there. The cheerleaders are less good looking. The jocks are louder, and the assholes are still assholes.
We left early and went to the Blues Club down the street. Now that was fun. :D

2. I had a GREAT time at mine! |
|
I had a GREAT time at mine! (Granted, I was living in Cancun at the time as a free lance writer which really piqued the interest of all the girls who had shot me down way back when).
The captain of the football team was overweight and bald.
The head cheerleader was on her fourth divorce.
The straight-laced Valedictorian got drunk and accidentally smashed the sound equipment.
We had an open bar.
What else could a person want?
To be honest, it was pretty cool. All of the people who were quiet, timid and shy in school were the only 'typical' adults there. The brash, overly-confident jocks had been slapped down by life hard enough to humble them into submission; and the "weirdo's" who had made fun of "the faceless masses" they used to hand their derision to like candy were now suit-and-tie cube rats.
It was fun-- if for no other reason than to catch up on some pretty interesting lives.
You should go. More likely than not, you'll have some fun, a few drinks and a few laughs-- and there's never anything wrong with that, right?

3. You still have all your hair and want to rub it in? |
|
Then go. Otherwise, don't.
Mine was last year. I didn't go, but I saw all the pictures on a website. Same old crap.

4. Absolutely! If I hadn't gone I would not have seen... |
|
some unknown fellow Nathan Hale Ranger puking in her purse in the parking lot. It's scenes like that that make reunions so worthwhile.

5. I went to my husbands. |
|
He loved it, and would never go back to the rest. All the guys were bald, the cheerleaders were desperate (trust me, the head was on my hubby's lap as much as possible). and the so-called-nerds were soo cool. I totally enjoyed the whole thing, as an outsider!

6. Mine is this year too. They never found me for the 10th, but managed to track |
|
me down for this one. I say if you're interested you should go. I personally have less than zero interest in going.
