Does anyone else get this dialer on DU ? |
|
Since I signed up again, every time I´m going to the DU starter page it tries to install one of this filthy dialers that switch my connection to something with horrible fees. I´m on DSL at home and on a University Network here at work so I´m safe personally but I´m pretty sure there are alot of modem users around here and they are at jeopardy. Nobody wants to end up with a 4000 $ phone bill...
I only get it at this page so it´s certainly not my PC, it´s something with the site. Can someone shed some light on this please ?

2. Nope... And I have spyware detection |
|
(Which among other things, detects dialer programs) I'd be wary of a program that's piggybacked to something your using. Try spybot to remove.

Do you have DU set as your home page?
If so, it's been kidnapped.
Run adaware.

5. It almost certainly ISN'T from DU.com |
|
Install Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy on your computer. They are both programs designed to seek out and remove spyware from your computer. The reason I say install both is because they don't always catch the same things, one picks up things the other might have missed. Both are available online for free (personal/home use).
Also, if you don't already have one, go out and buy an antivirus program. It'll help protect you from nasty crap trying to get on your computer, both from surfing and from email.
And above all else, keep these programs updated. New virus definitions and spyware lists are put out semi-regularly as those threats are identified.
