I figured out Tim Gunn's appeal... |
|
He's America's first gay father figure. Long overdue...

He's only a couple of years older than me so I don't see him as a "father figure" to me but I bet he'd make a great father! The fact that he's gay adds that dimension of the strength that it took (and still takes, unfortunately) to be gay during his lifetime, especially as a young man. I love his kind frankness, talent, and obvious caring.

Haruka agrees.
EVERYONE loved Tim -- we all want to hug him and have a latte with him.

|
He's articulate, he's very intelligent, he doesn't come off as arrogant in any way.... He's just a good man - gay, straight, or otherwise.

He loved it! And my hubby will watch it now and then, especially if Sarahbellum is home from college and watching the reruns and he wants to spend time with her *lol*

23. Well, my wife got me into it, but I do enjoy it. |

I dislike how Bravo does everything possible to up the drama-factor though. It's really blatant and obnoxious. But it is a highly creative thing, to design clothing, and I can absolutely appreciate that.

11. yes, after all these years of conservative right wing father figures |
|
you know - do it my way or I will bomb your country to the dark ages - I think everyone was ready for a father figure that mentored in a loving gentle way.
My husband is another straight guy for Tim!

I LOVE Tim Gunn. He makes me cry sometimes, he's such a sweet, caring, selfless person.
But, I also love Heidi. I think she's so cute. And fun. I'd love to spend a day with her.
And, honestly, Michael Kors too. I think he's really smart, knows what he's talking about, and is comfortable enough in himself to encourage and nurture other peoples talent.

Part of it was slamming Rami for relying too much on draping, and then complimenting others for having "a vision" when they repeat similar features. Nina's guilty of this too.

He's done that with other designers too (Uli for one. Laura for a second.). I sort of see what you mean, but at the same time, some designers manage to do the same KIND of things but mix it up a bit, and Rami was very.... well, one note. I found him to be at least. With Christian, sure he had a very specific style, but each outfit was different. With Rami, I felt like I was seeing the same dress show after show sometimes.
I guess it's a personal thing :)

She was very funny on Ellen. And then got slammed for it in the conservative media. I love, love, LOVE Ellen. Tim Gunn is a great father figure and Ellen is the next door neighbor and/or best friend that everyone craves.

When she put that shirt with Ellen's picture on her lap - the look on Ellen's face was priceless.
It was the first time I'd seen Heidi Klum on a talk show - she was very funny and likeable. And she has three young kids?! Jeez.
