Can we finally talk about this weeks Survivor
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 02:47 AM by LynneSin
Man I wanted to post this as soon as the show was over with, but I waited since I'm east coast and who knows who didn't see it.

Boo-freaking-hoo for Jenna M. you dumb dingbat!!!

Sure she lost her mother to cancer 8 days after you withdrew from the game, which I can feel for but let's look at the big picture: Jenna M. was nothing but a selfish bimbo who was just unhappy.

Let's face it, she knew when she accepted going into All-Star Survivor that her mother had cancer and was in that cancer center and yet she still chose to play the game anyways??????!!!!!!!???????!!!!!!!!! Then she gets all weepy last night that she could play anymore and wanted to go home because she wanted to be by her mother's bedside. You dumb idiot why then did you go in the first place???!!!! It's not like you couldn't have backed out at the last minute if she was getting worse. I'm sure Survivor had at least 2 or 3 women on the list as alternatives for just that case (and you took away someone else's chance to win the million dollars). I've dealt with a parent who died of cancer and I can assure you that it would take about 200000 trillion dollars for me to even CONSIDER leaving the bedside of one of my parents who was sick in the hospital

I think Alicia was the only gal who had the balls to say it best when she commented that Jenna knew before leaving about her mother's situation and came to play the game anyways.

Hats off to Big Tom who had me almost pissing my pants when he said "Big Tom's family could all be in a car wreck and die and they know that Big Tom is staying here to play the game" (I love how he talks in the 3rd person).

Anyone else thinking the same thing about Jenna last night???

1. Count me in.
Jenna knew her mother's condition when she agreed to play the game. As I said in another thread, I would not have missed her if she had decided not to play.

Alicia & Tom were being honest. Kudo's to them!

IMO, Jenna joins Osten in the "Survivor Cry-Baby Pee Pants Hall Of Fame." I think she forgot how hard it was & since she already has her money in the bank she decided to throw in the towel.

2. She knew she wouldn't win and she booked
Seriously!

When she saw that another previous Survivor member was voted off first (Tina from Survivor Outback), she realized she had no chance of winning the money herself.

I'm so not buying this at all.

BTW, who is playing who? Richad thinks he has his team wrapped around his finger but I can't imagine Lex and Colby being that stupid to buy into it. (Well, maybe not Colby - he gave up the million to Tina, but Lex was pretty ruthless at the game).

3. Shark Wrestling?
What's up with that?

I think Rupert didn't do himself any favors on the shelter building thing. As much as I hate to admit it, Jerri was right.

4. I cringed at the design of that shelther
and on the beach - that thing will be washed out to see in a week.

But with Rupert's sensitivity I can see him having issues with someone like Jerri.

6. Rupert really disappointed me with that one-
anyone should be able to realize that on a beach, the water goes as high as the sand/vegetation line...judging by the short previews of next week, he finds that out...the hard way.

10. There was some serious EDITING at the end IMHO
I don't think that the others were all that happy about her giving no matter the reason. TOm's rant about car wrecks and such was the most direct criticism they showed but I would expect it was worse than that.

5. I agree she shouldn't have gone in the first place.
I never liked Tom or Alicia and their commments were insensitive, but hey they're pretty much all jerks anyway.

Coming so soon after Osten's 'sell my clothes for money we don't need and then cry like a baby' stunt, I think that survivor has finally jumped the shark.

7. One thing in Jenna M's defense-
my wife and I were talking about it, and it seems completely feasible that at the time she agreed to do the show, her mother was doing better, and everyone was being very positive- but by the time it came time to leave, her condition could have started to slide...but Jenna felt obligated to go(who knows what kind of contract they had to sign on to...?).

But- yes, she shouldn't have gone in the first place.

BTW- do you think that any of the people were considered "must haves" and offered something 'extra' to sign on?
I'm thinking maybe Richard Hatch, Rudy, Rupert, and maybe a Jenna or two were given more...incentive...to play.

8. You could be right.
And am I the only one that dislikes everybody this time around? I love Rupert so much that I even dreamed about him last night. But he was totally annoying and let his arrogance overcome him. And yes I hated it that he was wrong, but I hope next week they win immunity and so he will be safe for a while. I've heard a rumour that he is one of the five people left. Don't know if it's true or not. Plus, I agree with LynnSin, Jenna should never have gone. Cancer has touched my family and from one day to the next you have no idea what will happen.

9. I think Probst was hinting that he knew she was being given info
I can understand how a crew member could do that even though no one else was probably getting information or messages. Just a hunch.

11. I don't think that she was necessarily getting info-
it's just that the way she expressed it, it sounded like someone may have been giving her info...and that's why Probst said what he did.
But I strongly doubt that's the case- anybody on the crew who did so would be putting their job/career in jeapordy.

12. It's hard to say
Since these are returning competitors they are at least fairly familiar with the crew.

13. but doing something that would get you bounced by Mark Burnett...
might also "blackball" you from future work in the same field. I just think that it might be a risky thing.
She was going thru a lot of emotional stress due to her mom's illness, and physical stress from being cold and hungry...she was probably feeling a lot of guilt on both ends as well- leaving her mom, and about the prospect of leaving her "teammates"- while I don't believe in para-normal or supernatural spirits or forces, I could see all the stresses she was under creating in her the sense of a "vibe"(as she called it) that she needed to be with her mother, and an impending(and accurate as it turned out) sense of "doom" about her mother's situation.

obviously, I can't say absolutely that a crew member wasn't feeding her updates- but I personally find it unlikely.

14. Jenna should not have gone
That being said, I don't know what she was going through, either before going, or while on the island. I do doubt that she was getting "inside info". Instead, Jeff's comment was because of Jenna's wording. When she said it, the first thing I thought was, "how in the hell do you know that? Has someone been talking to you?"

Rupert, Rupert, Rupert. What in the hell were you THINKING??? Digging a fricken' PIT??? On a BEACH??? Jerri said it best, they're not playing smart. It's one stupid mistake after another, for the whole team. They need to get their heads in the game, or they will drop like flies. They're down to their four best competitors, and they SHOULD kick ass, but it won't happen if they keep f*ing up.

Rich truly is the Survivor God. He wrestled a fricken' shark! You gotta love that. Three rounds in, and I'm convinced Rich wins again.
