Do you like your bank?
I want to change my bank so now I'm going through the process of researching what's out there. I'm intrigued with online banking because of the higher interest rates and no ATM fees but it seems like there must be a downside that I'm not seeing.

Do you like your bank? Why or why not?? Is it traditional or online?

1. I chose a local bank
Recently I was a victim of identity theft. The bank that I go to currently has my photo in their computer. So when I go to make a transaction my picture pops up on their screen. I'm very comfortable with that and I won't be changing banks any time soon.

2. Do you have any good credit unions locally?
You should get a pretty good interest rate while still getting the benefits of a local branch. Most are part of networks of credit unions now, so you shouldn't run into any big issues while you're traveling, either.

I have an account with a big regional bank and one with a small local credit union, so I get the benefits of both. My savings are at the credit union, the checking with the big regional bank. That way I get a better interest rate, and I have a checking account with a lot of nice bonus features that I can access all over the west coast with no difficulty. The only downside to that approach is that if I want to transfer funds from checking to savings or vice versa, it's not instantaneous.

4. I Use Wells Fargo And Credit Unions
and have been happy with all. My Wells Fargo is a small, friendly branch office though and I have heard others complain.

9. Wells Fargo is the bank I'm currently with
They recently blurred the lines between our business account and our personal account which is why we're going to close the personal account. I love my local WF branch though because the people are great.

10. Be Careful If You Choose A Credit Union
Not all are the same. I have one great one (so far) and the other one, well, suffice it to say that the only reason I still am a member is because I am too lazy to go through dropping them.

I must say that my Wells was very helpful after a recent burglary and theft of our checks. They gave us a new checking account including new checks for free while paying the checks I could tell them I had made. They also have been excellent about watching our online purchases and have called when my son has made (authorized by me) payments to gaming sites. Sorry to see you've had problems with them.

5. I highly recommend a credit union.
There are dozens in my area, with membership granted to those who live within the area of the credit union. The rates are pretty competitive with other banks, and the service is much more friendlier.

I had an acct with US Bank before I moved overseas and had the same opinion of them back then. I agree with you and just about everyone else on this thread regarding credit unions.

11. I use Compass Bank
I like that they keep your balance online. I use my check card and don't even fool with a checkbook.

13. I use a local bank
I pay most of my bills online . . and if I don't quite make it paycheck to paycheck (doesn't happen very often) they call me if I get overdrawn. Sometimes I appreciate the small town stuff where everyone knows your name.:hi:
