A guy was annoying me for some gas at the convenience store.
He had run out of gas and was being pretty pushy. I asked him who he's voting for in November and he said McCain. So, I didn't give him any money. Is that a mean thing to do?

1. Aren't they the party of personal responsibility?
No, it wasn't. People reap what they sow in instances like that.

2. Uh-huh. I'd suspect that 99.999% of people, when asked that question in that
situation would have answered, "What does 'who I'm voting for' have to do with it?"

4. He could have gotten some gas from me -
But he would have had to have pulled my finger.

6. I think that is the latest "scam" beggars are using.
I have heard numerous stories about being approached at a station by someone who "needs gas". I would have asked him where the vehicle was and asked him to turn the ignition on. If he was out of gas I might have him pull up to the pump & buy him some. If it wasn't damn near pegged on empty I would complain to the store about allowing beggars to harass customers.

7. Nope.
Your reaction was perfectly sensible. There are way too many scammers out there.
