... is the trombone player smoking in the background!! haha... he knows two things; 1. he won't be playing for awhile, and 2. smoking is like jogging for the lungs, i.e. a great thing for a horn player to do.
I'm not miles fan, but this coltrane solo is really doing just what you said it would.
