The only thing that would make this old Folgers commercial more sexist...
...is if they just went ahead and substituted the word "vagina" for "coffee."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5idyptK15w

That's the underlying message, isn't it?

16. What's that saying, tragedy + distance = comedy?
So much stuff that was said/written decades ago seems like satire now.

18. Arrggh!
That reminds me of research I did on how women were portrayed in women's magazines during World War II. One article, from late 1944 - early 1945, had an article about how women should decorate the kitchen. One item the article insisted a woman could not do without in the kitchen was a small mirror and shelf on which they could keep lipstick and a comb so that when the door bell rang or their husbands were coming home they could quickly check their appearances in the mirror and comb their hair and put on fresh lipstick.

25. Eeek, I remember it too.
Even though I must have been just a baby!

I recognize the actress. Wasn't she on a boatload of Love, American Styles or somesuch? And the oinky husband was a big soap opera star, I think.

10. Can't see it from here...
...but I suppose substituting any product name with "vagina" would make it sound sexist.

The new Volkswagon Vagina turbo-diesel. Test drive one today.

14. That wasn't a real ad
It was at the end of the movie "Crazy People" — which had the best ads EVarrr.

If you don't use it, you'll get cancer and die.

21. I guess he's so straight-laced, a strong cup of coffee is his idea of getting wild.
I think I remember reading somewhere that John Ashcroft's vice of choice was a big bowl of vanilla ice cream. LOL
