How could a blackbird end up in my basement - dead. |
|

I can handle mice and other creatures. This *is* a farm. But a bird???
Any theories?

The cats are strictly indoor beasts. I'm a little nervous about an opening being so large a bird can get in... That means the blue racer snake I encountered last spring could get in too. :scared:

the bite isn't poisonous, but it's nasty since it's a shredding kind of bite.
This one was about 2 1/2 feet long and maybe 2 inches high at the back. It was as silver as the chrome on a car. And he moved so fast...
;)
I'm not chicken, just cautious... :P

I'd rather have a dead bird than the live bat that I found flying around my house at 4am when Lelapin was a little girl. :scared:

I learned to kind of close my eyes and deal with the mouse trap. I still scream when I squish a spider or a centipede. The only thing I had to call for outside assistance was when the dogs caught and mangled a couple baby bunnies :( Ended up having to deal with that myself. This is where shovels, rakes, wrapping your hands in several layers of plastic bags and/or disposable gloves comes in handy. :shudder: Just because I'm a feminist doesn't mean I'm not squeamish!

I can take care of myself, but when it comes to critters, I can't do it. I can scoop it up with a shovel but I have to carry that shovel up the stairs, down the hall and through my kitchen. Not a good path. I've called my neighbor to see if her son will come over. I paid him yesterday to plow for me...
Hope they call back.

And in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, it was popular and considered high entertainment for birds to be put into the pie only to fly out when it was cut. :P

24. How could it live down there? |
|
All it needed was to get down there. Then it was stuck and it couldn't find food.
So there's really only one mystery. How did it get there in the first place? Everything else is a result of that.
