Purchase of Nude Lab Rats
The US Department of Veterans Affairs has posted a presoliticitation notice for nude lab rats. Anyone have a clue what the VA would want with nude rats??? Should we be concerned?? Afraid??

1. Confused again.
When did rats start to wear clothes? Hairless might have brought more offers.

3. Nah, if they were looking for that kind of stuff...
They would have gone directly to the source...

Unless, of course, they couldn't get hold of Matcom...

4. Some sort of dermatological experiment
A biologist I know once told me that if you're going to do dermatological experiments on lab animals you order nude ones (yes, they're hairless) because shaving them can irritate their skins. When you get a reaction, is it the chemical you applied to the animal or the shaving?

Check out http://www.jax.org, which is a mouse supplier that doesn't deal in rats, to see what you're up against: you have to know exactly what kind of animal you want because there's only about a million kinds.
