3. I love the way they dismissed the child abuse scandals as...,.
"...had been excessively emphasized by the media."

5. Heh
I'm born and raised at the heart of the scandal. Being a long dead Catholic, this was still shocking; not that it happened, but on the massive scale it happened, and the amount of cover-ups that had to take place to keep it under wraps for so long. Fuck Cardinal Law the most, even though he gave me the inspiration for a kick-ass poker game.

Those purveyors of guilt and superstition need to shut up and get real jobs, hopefully somewhere they can’t make any judgments or pronouncements.

19. I think this line left a bad taste in my mouth:
"He said Church authorities had reacted with rigorous measures to child abuse scandals within the clergy, but he also claimed that the issue had been excessively emphasized by the media."

I think it's been excessively swept under the rug by the church.

44. Wow. What baby?
First, I don't owe the Catholic Church any respect at all. It is in no position to dictate morality, not only for the child-rapists they knowingly protected, but for cruelties being perpetrated throughout the centuries.

Second, "the Church" (as if it were the only one) is once again trying to limit scientific inquiry. Frankly, if we listened to its teaching, we would still be bleeding sick people.

I am talking about the institution, not the parishioners.

A religion based upon the most holy of holy things in this world.

Chocolate.

You'll have to ask him for the details, all I know is I volunteered for a high-up position that involves eating chocolate and wearing a funny hat.

There is no reason for me to look at a new list of sins because I've already committed the unpardonable, unforgivable sin of being a non-believer. Anything else would just be grease on my slide to hell.
