Fly me anywhere: I Just Won 80,000 Frequent Flyer miles
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 12:09 PM by JCMach1
from Emirates Airlines.

Me, my wife and kids went to the Great British Day (remember we are Americans) at Jumeira Beach to have fun and hang out with the Brits. It was all for charity, the food and carnival were great. Towards the end, on a whim I bought a raffle ticket and won the grand prize 80,000 miles on one of the best airlines in the world (Emirates). I had on my Democratic party baseball cap as I accepted the award and had my picture taken for the newspaper. I only wish I was wearing my DU T-shirt :)

I don't win ANYTHING and this is the equivalent of about 8,000 dollars.

I am psyched and can't wait to figure out where to go. :)

God save the Queen and all that...

7. Thanks!
It will be tough deciding where to go... or if we want to divide it into several trips.

6. Have they started serving Baghdad yet?
I hear it's lovely...

BTW- don't forget to allow for the income taxes you'll have to pay on that $8,000 value...

11. contest winnings count.
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 12:36 PM by Beaker
a lot of times, people who have won expensive cars on game shows have had to sell them to pay the taxes.

winning the miles in a contest is not the same as having "earned" them thru travel on the airline.

I may be mistaken about it- but it's something you may want to check on, just in case.
