Are counterfeit pens much less effective on older bills.... |
|
I got a 1950 20 dollar bill in my register yesterday. It came up brown with the pen but that is not necessarily indicative of a counterfeit.
It feels and looks real to me but obviously has not been in circulation much since it's in fairly good shape. That makes it odd in and of itself.
It's the oldest bill I've seen in my register.
I understand that if a bill contacts starch the counterfeit pens don't work.

1. I wouldn't know, all the bills that come out of my laser printer pass the pen test. |
