Anyone else dealing with co-workers who gloat over Kerry story?
By yesterday evening there were already people at my office who were smirking and gloating over the Drudge Report's story an alleged relatisonship between John Kerry and a 24-year-old journalist. Normally I wouldn't even give this coverage, but I'm bowled over yet again by the sheer Schadenfreude of these people. Unfortunately, one of the nastiest of the gloaters is someone I must work with every day.

Is anyone else out there dealing with this?

2. Bush at 20 raped a 15 year old
then Bush helped the girl (Robin Lowman) get an ILLEGAL abortion

In 1972, before Bush went AWOL,
and refused to take a drug test
he was forced to do community service for cocaine possession.

FEEL BETTER?

3. Best you can do...
Is remind them that Bill O'Reilly called Drudge a liar and dope addict.

Also remind them that ever since "the blue dress," Drudge's "exclusives" and "scoops" have been 99% a LIE.

Mostly I'm surrounded by independents, radicals, die-hard cynics (including ex-military), Democrats, and the like, but there are a few dyed-in-the-wool Reagan idolators and similar. :puke:

6. I doubt that it's
schadenfreude. I think they are just glad that the Dems have started their ususal electoral seof-destruct. think about it. If this had come up in the GE, it might have influenced some voters, but let's face it, most people would have decided * or Kerry by then, and voted whichever way it was. coming out now, the Dems get to fight among themselves a little longer, taking time off from attacks on *, and digging up more dirt on each other.

8. Au contraire.
"I doubt that it's schadenfreude." I work with a pretty malicious woman (and I use the term loosely) who never misses a chance to make digs at the Democrats and acts as though Reagan is a god. She's not thinking about the party, she's thinking about how CHASTE all her darling Republicans are (Yeah, she's that gullible or self-righteous or hypocritical).

11. Repubs are chaste?
you mean like Bush the elder, with his decades-long affair with Jennifer Fitzgerald? Reagan, fooling around with Nancy before his divorce from Jane Wyman? Helen Chenoweth? "Dr." Laura? Chaste? Hahahahaha!

13. Ah, well, there are always exceptions, but
in general, the Republicans I know are NOT happy to see anyone miserable just for enjoyment of other's misfortunes, which is the definition of 'schadenfreude'. They just want to win in November.

Despite the high amiability quotient of people on this board, and other liberals, the most malicious person I ever met was a Democrat, who had voted, as she was fond of saying, for Clinton.

Personal qualities and political inclinations can be separate.

9. tell them
to check out the National Enquirers site. Tell them there is a nice juicy story about Kerry and a stripper. Watch them fall over each other to get to the computer and the site. Debate whether or not it could be considered truth or gossip. Watch them claim it just has to be true if the National Enquirer is printing it. (or they would be sued),

It is actually a story about Bush and a stripper. Be sure to stand over them and gloat.
