Go with your gut
Something tells me that there is some truth to this story.

snip

Most of us experience ‘gut feelings’ we can’t explain, such as instantly loving – or hating – a new property when we’re househunting or the snap judgements we make on meeting new people. Now researchers at Leeds say these feelings – or intuitions – are real and we should take our hunches seriously.

1. I'm a big believer of going with my gut .....
It has served me well. Now if I could figure out how to tune into it more clearly on smaller things.

2. Ralph Waldo Emerson: "Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string"
From Self Reliance:

Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string. Accept the place the divine providence has found for you, the society of your contemporaries, the connection of events. Great men have always done so, and confided themselves childlike to the genius of their age, betraying their perception that the absolutely trustworthy was seated at their heart, working through their hands, predominating in all their being. And we are now men, and must accept in the highest mind the same transcendent destiny; and not minors and invalids in a protected corner, not cowards fleeing before a revolution, but guides, redeemers, and benefactors, obeying the Almighty effort, and advancing on Chaos and the Dark.

4. 10%-12% of the popluation...
...has the Meyer's Briggs personality type ESTJ. ESTJ's can be very smart and can be effective leaders, but they have a quirk: they are the only "S" type that routinely experiences intuitions and these intuitions are almost always wrong.

George W. Bush is an ESTJ.
