how does one saw through a bike lock?
Gah! The teenager lost the only remaining key to the bicycle tamper-proof lock. It's one of those rigid things. Hacksaw? It's at the high school until we figure this out.

TIA.

1. I've heard that sadly, there are many sites on the net which describe how to undo any bike lock.
Google might bring them up. Good luck.

3. Bolt cutters or power hacksaw are the fastest way.....
Drilling the keyhole with a 3/8 inch bit will work, too, but it takes a bit longer and you have yo stick a screwdriver in and turn it to release the shackle. Any carpenter stranded at job site without the damn key knows a way to do it.

4. If it's one of the big U shaped ones
you can get it off with just a little bit of leverage and a crowbar or sturdy plank.

Unfortunately you also risk hurting whatever it's chained to, so I wouldn't recommend that if it's stuck on school property.

You may want to ask the school how they deal with that. They probably have the equipment to get a bike off a bike rack forcibly.

5. It depends on which lock that you have.
If you Google your problem there are several ways to deal with your problem depending on the particular lock that you have and the equipment that you have at your disposal.

6. Heh heh...boltcutters can go through all kinds of stuff.
Heavy chains. I mean *heavy* cow chains.

If it's a Kryptonite U-lock, get a Bic pen, take out the end, insert into lock.

9. If you want to saw through a bike lock
I would use a saw.

If you just want to get the bike, however, a bolt cutter might work a little better.
