17 Month Old Girl READS... |
|
Not sure how many of you saw this clip: http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-us&vid=400a8dd5-902a-4d71-882c-7da7b8b7cc1f&playlist=videoByUuids:uuids:c044d322-a4f6-4a38-925a-12d01ef81fb8,33eaf98e-57f9-4ece-a7a6-eeadf1f18bcc,2225f56a-2069-4a77-b75d-b82504dea5f6&from=MSNHP&tab=m17>1=28114Amazing.. I have a 2 & 1/2 year old- and i'm happy that she can ID all of her letters, and count to 20. I'm glad to see that the parents aren't forcing this on her.. it seems to be her own "thing". But, it does show how important it is to read to your little ones.. they certainly absorb more then you think they do.

4. Good for her, the little cutie |

My parents thought I could read at 2 years old, but I had just memorized some of my books. I was a scam artist!

9. Haha! My 2 year old can "read" |
|
her Cat in the Hat book.. but we know it's the same thing.. she just has all of the words memorized like a song (and i sort of sing it when I read it to her). But, if i just point to a word and say "what word is that".. every word is Cat. So, she's right about 1/4th of the time. :)

5. Eh. My son could add and subtract at that age. We never forced him. |
|
That's why he was taking CalcII and Statistics in high school. I never made it past Alg.II.

8. Damn, that's incredible |

I still have to use my fingers! Isn't it amazing how kids steamroll past their parents' highest achievements? The other night my 4-year-old informed me that "truck anchors are used to stabilize the vehicle when the drill starts."
...Uhhh the what now?

She beat me by a month. :grr:
According to reports, I was leaning over my crib so as to read the old Baltimore News-American on the floor -- at 18 months. So even then I was a :dunce: .
