I'll keep this short and to the point, because I need to go to bed.

My world is defined by pain. It's the first thing I notice when I wake up in the morning, and it's the last thing I'm aware of when I fall asleep at night.

Every day. Every SINGLE day. And it's never going to change. That's just what my life is going to be, and there's not a goddamn thing that I, or anyone else, can do to change it. It's NOT going away, no matter how many nights I spend walking in circles in my house or down Main Street in town because it 3 AM and I can't sleep because the pain is so bad.

It's what is. And as miserable as it is, I'm NOT going off the bridge any time soon. Because I can either 1) enjoy the pleasures of life, such as eating dinner with my wife and kids, or feeling the warmth of the sun on the first true day of spring, or just standing still for a moment to drink in what the world offers me, or 2) not be here to enjoy whatever pleasure I might find.

I'm sticking around, because who knows what enjoyment, no matter how small, might I miss if I didn't?

Perspective. I highly recommend having some of that, because it's kept me off the bridge for about 15 years now.
