Pretend you're Cliff Clavin and post some random trivia... |
|
I'll start-- Redheads are more sensitive to pain and require more anesthesia than non-redheads. The gene that causes one to be redheaded (MC1R gene if you really want to know) is the reason.

1. Mr Ed was played by a zebra. |

That was a big reason for the series ending. For obvious reasons it couldn't change to color format.

It was actually a highly developed comedic version of a county fair, which was invented by the ancient Roganians.

Otherwise the whole game Trivial Pursuit would be sort of nebulous wouldn't it?
ETA: Your context is what my dad always referred to as bullshitting, which was just making up random stuff to tell a story.

22. Oh. I wasn't trying to deny that the duck thing was bullshit. |
|
I'm sure it is. I didn't make it up. I read it somewhere but I don't buy it for a second.
I was merely attempting to oblige the O.P. since, IIRC, more than half of what Cliff Claven said on Cheers was bullshit.

When I lived in Taiwan, I killed a cockroach (one of those nasty huge Asian ones) on the edge of a door. The top half flew onto my very untidy desk. A week later I was looking for some papers and saw the top half still moving.

14. ZOMG! I just discovered the ULTIMATE Cliff Clavinism: |
|
Found this totally by coincidence this morning in Mental Floss Magazine:
"Cliff Clavin was an afterthought. Actor John Ratzenberger originally auditioned for the role of barfly Norm Peterson. When he lost the part to George Wendt, Ratzenberger sked the producers if they'd written in a 'resident know-it-all.' All bars, he pointed out, have one. Thanks to his persistence, the character of mail carrier Cliff Clavin became a regular on Cheers."

In all the 85 or so runnings of the Indianapolis 500, the field has never included a driver named "Smith." John Jimmy Johnson (the ex-Dallas Cowboy coach) and Janis Joplin were classmates at Port Arthur (TX) High School. So were Hugh Downs and Phyllis Diller (at Lima Central (OH) High).

37. America was really founded because many early settlers ... |
|
were sick of the rain in England and other many other parts of Europe.
Yup ... It had nothing to do with freedom ... it was all about the way wool cloths start to stink when it gets wet.
That's right, in fact, if they had some water proof fabrics, America would have remained basically idle for another 200 years.
