You know that Free Credit Report commercial |
|
the one where the guy sings about his girlfriend's credit history tanking his chances of finding a decent place to live.
If your significant other, to whom you're not married, had really bad credit history, and you have to find a new apartment together, and your credit was good, would you
a) fill out joint applications and hope that your good credit and the fact that you both make decent salaries override his or her disatrous credit?
b) just fill out the application and sign the lease yourself and have them just move in with you? I mean, why couldn't I just say, oh yeah, that lady you see going into my apartment all the time, she just visits ALOT.

I'm betting he owes thousands to the movie of the month club...it always sounds like a good idea..you know, 10 movies for a penny...but they ALWAYS screw you over man.

2. For a few years my credit sucked |
|
after my divorce. I still got an apartment without any trouble. They just look for things that are related is what they told me, like if I had run out on a lease before.

5. maybe you could try filling out an application together at an |
|
apartment you dont like so well first, and see if you are accepted before you go to the one you really want. I know they will probably want an 'application' fee, but it might be worth it.

9. Maybe so...but the implication is that |
|
if he had checked her credit report, he wouldn't have married her in the first place. He'd 'be a happy bachelor with a yard and a dog'. In other words, good credit should be more important than any of the other reasons for marriage. (She's his 'dream girl' but he'd have dumped her if he'd known she defaulted on a loan) Hooray for shallowness. :sarcasm:

10. Ha, I had a fiance dump me years ago for more or less this reason. |
|
It was more complicated than that of course, but that was sort of symbolic of the whole thing. (My credit is bad--when it's not non-existent; I'm almost 40 and have never had a credit card.)
I feel like I dodged a bullet there!
