*** Truck Driver and other driver Appreciation Thread ***
My dad would be in the shit right now if he were still living.

Thanks for all you guys do getting the stuff delivered to us consumers.

Let's hope the diesel prices come down soon. I imagine owner-operators are taking a big punch these days with fuel $4+ throughout the country.

A special shout out to Droopy since I know for sure he is a driver.

You All Rock!

3. It is tough
They say anyone can do it for one day, but it takes a certain breed to do it for a living.

I believe it.

4. Be sure to tell them thanks
I suspect company drivers may be taking cuts just to make up for the fuel prices one rung above them.

6. I have a lot of respect for those men and women
I live between two of the most heavily traveled north-south truck routes in the country — U.S. 101 and I-5 (not "the 101" or "the 5," TYVM), so I encounter them often, and I've noted for a long time that they tend to be the best and most courteous drivers on the road.

Considering what they put up with — long hours, DWT jerksticks in four-wheelers and bullshit from dispatchers — it's a wonder they aren't all trying to re-enact "Duel."

10. I remember dad hating having a load in CA along that stretch
CA are very strict from what I remember. That's why we always washed the truck in Vegas :P

7. I was a trucker
for a little over ten years. I know own several trucks and have other guys driving them. Fuel prices right now are ridiculous and have been for some time. Fortunately my trucks are leased on with a great company. I am able to get good rates for the freight my guys are hauling.

11. I was thinking the owner operators are who get hurt the worse
As long as the guys you lease to pass the cost to the buyer and not cutting below a rung, that will be ok.

8. Thanks, Inchworm!
There are others here who will appreciate your kind words as well. I just talked to a long time DUer the other day who is a truck driver and I never knew it before then. I also know of at least 4 other DUers who are or have been truckers.
