NEUROMANCER movie coming in 2009 (and why I've got a bad feeling about this...)
Heads up, William Gibson fans - Neuromancer is finally hitting the big screen:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1037220/

And here's why I'm afraid this may suck. Here's Neuromancer director Joseph Kahn's resume:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0994538/

Most of his work is in music videos? And he's going to tackle Gibson's most influential work?

:wtf:

1. Hayden Fu*king Christensen??!?!
Why in the name of everything holy is Hayden Fucking Christensen playing Case?

Neuromancer has been jerked around by Hollywood for so long that it's hard to believe this will stick.

17. I can think of a bunch of people who'd be better
The first one that sprang to mind was Joseph Gordon-Levitt--I saw him in Mysterious Skin and Brick recently and he was fantastic.

Considering the director's resume, though, it's likely that even a great cast won't be able to save what will probably be a crappy movie. :(

11. Nah - he already played the title character in JOHNNY MNEMONIC
He sucked in that role. Was much better in The Matrix.

14. It's probably just as well
This is Hollywood we're talking about here, and they're perfectly capable of casting Justin Timberlake as Hiro, and Lindsey Lohan as Y.T. :puke:

10. why not?
there is nothing new about neuromancer any more, the whole cyberpunk thing is over the hill and why shouldn't it be a pop music video/visual candy type deal? if we're honest with ourselves that's what the novel was anyway

22. There was a prototype screenplay floating around in the Internets...
I saw it. Utter rubbish. I just hope that, if nothing else, a new screenplay is being used that's truer to the spirit of the original story.
