I've always wondered this: Am I part of the Cool Kids or Not?

honestly, I can remember days when I had 50+ threads hidden in the lounge (lee mercer fever... funny, but I was too busy.)

and I've ignored posters who weren't my cup'o'jo, or who were obsessed with something I have no interest in (cough * football * cough) It's easier to do something in that way than to try to control others. And ultimately makes for more happiness because you can't control others... that's just the way to frustration.

I think there is a group of people here who like one another, so when one posts there are many replies that contain questions and opinions that make for interesting threads.

Others may post something just as worthwhile, but do not get very many replies because there isn't as much personal rapport as there is between the 'cool kids'.

You're well liked in the Lounge but I'm not sure if being a cool kid is something that happens because you're popular or whether it's like a secret society that you have to go through initiation and stuff. One thing I can say for sure is that you're a wonderful antidote to Kool-Aid kids :)

but I doubt that's much of an endorsement. In real life, I have many friends and acquaintances, lots of whom have sought me out. I seem to be flunking friendship in the lounge because I wait for people to come to me and say " Hey, I noticed you are charming and witty and intelligent, let's be friends". My 'coolness' doesn't translate well on a computer screen. At least you put yourself out there and share what you are about. That makes you unafraid of what people think, or if they will judge you, and reject you. I admire that. I recognize your screen name, see your posts and comments, and that makes me feel like you are part of the total picture that is the lounge's identity.
