We had some dramaz go down this morning

Henrietta, Liv's(my little sister) new little hermit crab that we got her yesterday, died this morning. She picked him up and noticed that his shell was empty and his body was out and not moving. We had a nice little burial next to the sea and made him a little memorial in the sand. Afterwards Liv told me "I'm going to miss her so much because she wasn't just a pet, she was a friend." awwwww :( . i told her that henrietta was up in crab heaven and even though she was old an died, she got to live for a day with liv and she loved her. liv told me "but i wanted more time, i only got to have her one day." (yes, i have very dramatic little sisters). she's still upset about it and keeps walking over to her empty crab cage and crying, but i told her that we would get her another hermit crab this afternoon and we will find the one that looks most like henrietta and it will probably be her daughter(hell, they all look alike!).

RIP little henrietta .. i really do feel bad for livi :(

my grandparents have a place down here and we came for spring break

my grandparents place is close to destin, but more in between towns and in a less touristy area.

6. I see you are in Foley

when I lived in Pensacola I managed a Texaco/Package store in Foley. It was a couple miles south of the outlet mall. I sure miss that area.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, there was a robbery there a few years back and the woman running the place was killed.
It closed and never reopened.
Not even sure if the building is still there.
Lots of new commercial construction on Hwy. 59.

10. The last time I went by the one I worked at it was closed down

but that was the Shell station that the lady was killed at. The one I was working at was called Dixieland, we had a package store attached.

Yes, I know the area has changed a lot ! My son still lives around there, he is in Daphne.

Here's the thing. We learned, after the fact, that those little guys are actually pretty social creatures and can actually die from loneliness. I couldn't believe how much that little crab affected me.

Liv must be so good. This kind of thing can be very sad no matter how new the critter is. But this crabby had a name and got a little memorial! And maybe she really is in Crab Heaven O8)
