How would you most like to be 'employed'?
I use 'employment' loosely, because I don't necessarily mean work that you are getting paid for, rather, how would you most like to employ yourself? What appeals to you?

How I'd like to be spending my life:

1.) Spending a lot of time talking to people about cross-cultural living and experiences. Whether it's living in another country or living outside of the culture you were brought up in (religion, sexual orientation, etc.), I find this stuff really fascinating. If I got to travel with a good translator to each place and a good photojournalist, so much the better. At some point I'd love to compile a book about people's experiences like this. Seeing places through new filters is something I find really fascinating.

2.) Reading a lot of books. Fiction and non-fiction, fun and serious and deep. I love books. :)

3.) Doing something physically active that I enjoy - climbing or hiking or swimming or camping, just being outdoors and being fit. I don't do this one nearly enough, lately.

4.) Learning something all the time, preferably from a good teacher/mentor/tutor. Lately that's been pottery and dance and now banjo, but I'd also love to attend some sort of small-group discussions among intellectual people from all sorts of backgrounds, where there is a continual exchange of information and branching off onto new tangents, but always learning. I've been thinking of joining Mensa to see if that fits this need, for me...

So, what would you like to be doing? If money and time (and possibly child/parent-care) were not issues that came into it, how would you pass your days and weeks and years? :)

13. I'm doing some of what I want--freelance writing
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 12:38 PM by MorningGlow
But I also want to own a New Age bookstore (without having to worry about it turning a profit) and have my own theater group.

On edit: I also want to be a cofounder of a Waldorf School--our area desperately needs one.

17. I'd like to work from home.
I'm unemployed at the moment because of a chronic pain condition, which I'm learning to deal with. Fortunate that I'm still young and can live with my folks!

Still, I'd really like to find work from home. All I've been able to track down online is customer service and/or telemarketing.

18. Volunteering.
I'd probably spend most of my time doing whatever Sea Shepherd is doing. During downtime, working with Food Not Bombs or something like that.

My second choice would be billionaire playboy. Richard Branson, but without the goofy stunts.

20. Nothing. I would do nothing.
(Thank you, Office Space!)

Seriously, though, if money were no object, I'd be gone. South America for a while, then maybe Australia, then Asia and so on. I'd live in hotels and travel till I got it out of my system.
