3. Ouch! I wonder how anyone can afford to live there. |
|
It is a city I would love to visit some day though. I'd love the history there and the seafood wouldn't be a bad thing either.

6. When I moved to the San Francisco area the rental management/realtor types always started the spiel |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 06:05 PM by Gormy Cuss
about how housing is is expensive here, blah blah blah, until we said we were relocating from Boston. Rentals in Boston are still not much cheaper than San Francisco, although buying property is a different story.

18. That's assuming you can buy it for a price that would be in that range for PITI. |
|
There are a lot of owners who are sitting on properties out here and because of our whacked out tax limits and crazy escalation, they may be able to pay debt service etc while renting it out for $2500 but a new owner with 20% down would be paying 3-5 times that much. It's really nutty. I have friends who did the math and became renters out here after selling in the Northeast.

14. Live outside of Boston & take the T into town |
|
It runs as far out as Worcester, if I recall, and is usually very convenient. It's easy enough to find a place outside of Boston that's cheaper & a quick T ride into town. Framingham? Shrewsbury?

17. I'm close to Haverhill, the Newburyport line is the first stop |
|
so there's always a seat if you have to work in Boston. Salisbury should be much cheaper, and might be worth a look. Short commute over the river to the train station.

all 2 miles of it. Living near downtown, and having such a short commute is so nice. Don't hit me when I start riding my bike to work!
I see a bunch of houses/places with rental signs up, if you like I can give you the addresses.

I'm in Wichita, and just scored a deal on a 3/3, almost 2000 s.f., with a 2 car garage, and only 4 years old. $1000 a month. I didn't think it was possible, but I found it!
